Palette and patterns :: colourful interiors

I set myself a challenge with this weeks palette, and that was to create a palette of colours I would not usually choose. My start was this gorgeous photo titled Colorful Living Room – I could absolutely see myself in that chair with a good book. This was my second attempt, the first still had me selecting some ‘safe’ colours.

My pattern challenge then was to create 2 patterns that could be turned into either a cushion cover or even be used to upholster a chair. I’m not sure if I hit the mark but my two patterns are – on the left – Upholstered Chair, which I think would work well on a chair if the pattern was a bit smaller. On the right – Lacy Chevron – which I think would make an awesomely garish cushion cover if it was a bit larger. What do you think? It was nice to step outside of my colour comfort zone for a bit.

  1. I love that photo and those bright colors. I’d love to have that chair, but it would get covered in cat hair too quickly. One day, when all the pets have gone the way of the dodo, I’ll get cool furniture.

Your patterns are great. Yeah, I think the second one would make me dizzy in abundance. But then again, lots of things make me dizzy these days.

  2. Ooh, that is such a gorgeous colour combination! And I love the patterns!
