I had such a fabulous day yesterday on day one of my screen printing on fabric class. This is the second time I’ve done this class and the teacher really worked with me on some more advanced techniques. I was so surprised how many people gave all the consideration to their designs and none at all the colour they would use. This meant come printing time they literally chose ‘any old colour’!! Does. Not. Compute.

It probably doesn’t surprise you to know that I had a very definite colour in my head that I wanted to use. This is almost exactly the colour I had envisioned and not only that I managed to reproduce it. I was so impressed that my colour mixing skills have not faded too much since art school. I promise you I’ll share my final work with you soon.

My flickr finds are from top: Plafond de chapelle / Chapel Ceiling by Denis-Carl Robidoux, Simpétrum‑de‑nervuras‑vermelhas // Red-veined Darter (Sympetrum fonscolombii) by Valter Jacinto, Otranto – window by Mauro

P.S. – you can also select my colour new bud or #c3BC6D to see it on my ColourLovers page. Are you a ColourLover? Let’s be friends.

  1. Libby! New bud is SO amazing. I literally drool over this color! Reminds me of a yellowing parsley and just a fresh smell of garden!

Also, I’d love to see what you created on the screenprinting class.

    1. Thanks Starlet. It’s not at all a colour I would choose and I’m pretty sure my fellow classmates thought I was mad but it turned out so well.

  2. I just love these posts, Libby, so so much. And your class sounds amazing and exciting! I’m so glad you had an awesome time there.

I’m also not understanding how people don’t think of color at least somewhere in the creation process. I can’t NOT think of color. Does not compute is right!

    1. Can you believe I gave up these posts for a year? What was I thinking? I’m really enjoying curating them each week and I tend to go for images that provide inspiration.

  3. Great color. Wonderful photo choices. And that wall. Oh, how I love that wall. I want to lean up against it. Rub my hand across it on a cool night to feel the texture. It’s just dreamy.
