ANZAC Day

Yesterday was ANZAC Day and the first time my boys have seen an ANZAC Day march. My eldest was very curious about it especially as it involved lots of talk of soldiers and war! It’s a little bittersweet for my father, who lost his own father in WWII. I know he spends a lot of the day reflecting on what that meant to his childhood and how things may have been different had his father returned. In most small towns there sits somewhere prominent a statue of a lone soldier, under which is the honour roll that is read out every ANZAC Day. Lest we forget.
