Can you believe it’s been a week between posts? This week has been the week of assignments due and I’ve been working so hard to get it all done, now remind me why I’m doing this?

Sadly this week has been a week of loss as well. You probably know that I’m a big fan of ColourLovers which is not just a resource and tool I use, it’s also a community. Among the community was a talent we knew as sunmeadow – she really did produce the most amazing pattern templates. She was the only person I ever reached out to for advice and she was so generous in her response. We were all shocked and saddened to learn this week that she passed away on March 23rd at the age of 38. It’s amazing how you get the know people across the world, and create a connection even without knowing a name. It’s left me feeling a little deflated.

  1. It’s always hard when you find out that someone you knew passed, isn’t it? Last week, we found out one of my dad’s brothers had passed away. There’s always a bit of a hole, isn’t there?

P.S. As I was scrolling down the photos, I immediately flashed to a story I learned in art history class way back when about the color purple – did you know it originally come from ground up sea urchins during the time of Phoenicians? Ground up sea urchins were hideously expensive (and stinky), so only the very wealthy could afford them; that’s why purple is a royal color.

    1. Sorry to hear of your loss also, it’s definitely never easy.
I did not know the history of purple. It’s always associated with royalty and popes which is how I came up with the name. Thanks for sharing this.

  2. Oh, my! These photos are amazing! Wow. Aren’t you just in love with that door latch?

And once again I am in awe of your color naming skills. So fun.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is wonderful how internet connections make the world and its people so much more accessible. The friends it brings us. Unfortunately, however we make friends there is always potential for loss. I’m sorry you lost your friend.

    1. I am so besotted with that latch. I would love one on our garden gate.
